Over the weekend I spent some time at musclecarsociety.com and really can’t imagine finding a more comprehensive site for classic muscle cars” and those who love them. It’s an online, grassroots magazine by and for enthusiasts. Sharing stories and photos about American muscle cars, classic car clubs, and events all over the United States, the site is almost impossible NOT to browse. (Submitting information is a snap via an online form or by simply emailing the society.)

I appreciate a site like this where the article authors own the cars they’re writing about, belong to the clubs they cover, and have a hand in organizing the shows. The society’s founder owned both a 1953 Chevy with an inline, long stroke, 210 c.i. motor and a 1969 Camaro. (You can almost feel the pain when he talks about giving the car up when he became a family man and no longer had time to work on the Camaro.) That’s the level of knowledge that leads to interesting commentary with real feeling and true insight into the muscle car genre and its associated culture.

And of course there’s plenty of eye candy. No site like this is complete without photos and lots of them. Currently on the front page you’ll find the articles and images on the following car:

- 1969 Z-28-Camaro (in rare red)
- Daytona Yellow 427 Yenko ‘69 Camaro
- British Green Original 1968 Z28 RS (restored)
- 1969 Camaro 383 Stroker

And that’s just page one of nine. Look over at the right menu and you’ll find coverage on the Camaro, Challenger, Charger, Chevelle, GTO, Mustang and Nova.

Current topics on the site’s blog include:

- The Edelbrock Story: Before It All Began
- Trying to find a Mopar Crate Motor Online
- How to Find an Online Muscle Car Community
- Searching for Camaro Body Parts Online

If you’re getting the idea that the Muscle Car Society is an excellent mix of tech data, events, images, community, and getting-your-hands-dirty kind of useful content, you’re right. It’s easy for a site like this to go wrong and MuscleCarSociety just doesn’t. From the catchy header (with a nice little pin-up car babe in the logo) to the straightforward, clear article and menu structure, this is a page that immediately draws you in and gets you reading. Thumbs up all the way around.

TheSuperCars.org uses the tagline “Smart, Sweet, and Fast” to describe the cars they honor on their website, but those words are applicable to the site itself as well.

Smart: The website puts you behind the wheel, as it were, from the first click, with feature articles right there on the front page, highlighted by pictures of the world’s most elite cars – finely tuned performance vehicles, luxury cars, and limited edition specialty vehicles. Articles are arranged by general category, and there is no flash-laden splash page, just real content from the first line.

Sweet: The people behind TheSuperCars.org clearly love their subject, and it shows in every article, and those articles include everything from overviews of specific vehicles, like the 2008 Bentley Continental GTZ, to informative lists like the ten most expensive cars of the year. Models covered include the expected makes like Lamborghini, Maserati, Bugatti, and the afore-mentioned Bentley, but also include cars that still have an elite cachet despite being more readily available, like Hummer and Porsche.

Fast: Like many auto-enthusiast websites and blogs, TheSuperCars.org is packed full of images, beauty shots of all the most expensive and interesting cars in the world. Unlike many such sites, this one loads as quickly as the cars it covers can accelerate from zero to sixty, if not faster. There is no lag time while readers wait for pictures to load, and even people with slower connections should find this site easy to navigate.

If you like cars, almost any website will serve your needs. If you are truly passionate about the fastest, most luxurious cars the world has to offer, TheSuperCars.org is the site to visit. You will find great articles, beautiful cars, and site owners who share your interests, because they, too, are enthusiastic about elite driving machines.

The SuperCars.org is indeed “Smart, Sweet, and Fast.”

Imagine it: you’re behind the wheel of a Dodge Viper, doing laps on a closed track at ever-increasing speeds. You’re going so fast that you can’t even see the people watching you, but you can feel a burst of adrenaline every time you turn the wheel to take a corner, and the sound of the engine is thrumming in time to the blood pumped through your rapidly beating heart. If just the thought of fast cars makes your pulse quicken, there’s a website you need to check out. It’s carsdbs.com, and it’s all about the need for speed.

From the first moment the page opens, a visit to carsdbs.com feels like you’re settling into the cockpit of a race car. Dressed in basic black with speed-demon red highlights, the site is fast to load, and jumps right into posts about fast cars, and the technology behind them. Recent posts have covered everything from the latest news on Audi’s performance car offerings to the concepts displayed at this year’s SEMA show, and are laced with pictures, to help readers imagine themselves in the driver’s seat.

The information isn’t just pictures and titles, however. A post on the recently-unveiled 2008 Nissan GT-R provides an adequate snapshot of the performance-tuned car, highlighting the 192 mph top speed, and the 11.5-second quarter mile time. It is detailed information like this that makes carsdbs.com really fly, and keeps readers engaged in the page. (The fact that the image of the GT-R looks as it could drive right off the page is just an added bonus.)

Carsdbs.com was recently re-launched, so content only goes back to October 24th, but if it continues on as well as it’s begun, this fast-car enthusiasts site will do much more than just spinning its wheels.
