According to Reuters, the top brass at Audi thinks electric cars represent a great opportunity and within ten years their company will be offering cars with zero emissions. Ruper Stadler, an Audi executive speaking to the German publication Welt am Sonntag predicted both diesel and battery tech will be the dominating factors in automotive design over the next five years to a decade. Now, let’s just hope all those as yet unbuilt Audis aren’t for the European market only.

For its part VW’s L1 concept will return 230 miles per gallon. The trade off, however, is that we’re talking a tiny little machine with the passenger perched behind the driver and topping out at around 75 mph.
