IntergalacticHydrogen.com: A World of Alternative Fuel - March 19th, 2008
When a friend of mine told me I needed to check out IntergalacticHydrogen.com, I laughed. I figured sci fi site, right? More like sci fact, and a harbinger of alternative fuel focused production shops to come. Or, as the site copy puts it, “As a research, development and deployment company, we can engineer the cleaner fuel devices of your desire. We offer Custom Vehicle Creations to the early adopters that want something clean, green, and unique.”
So what kind of fuels are we talking here? (The following carry the disclaimer “among others,” meaning IntergalacticHydrogen is up for just about anything.)
- ethanol
- H2
- CNG
- biodiesel
- propane
- solar hydrogen
(And they run Intergalactic Gas Stations.) The menu of services is equally impressive, including:
- alternative fuel vehicle diagnostic and repair
- Natural Gas Vehicle extended range kits and up-fitting to H2NGV
- educational outreach
- product demonstration
- clean fuel presentations
- conversion upgrades
In a word, “Sweet.”
Based out of Sandy, Utah, the company offers a range of custom packages from Hummers to Toyotas (neatly covering the image spectrum of car ownership from the macho to the suburban.) The emphasis here is on standards, “All of our current AFV’s (American Fuel Vehicles) offered are beyond compliance. We start with the existing NGV standards and install check valves, excess flow valves, pressure relief devices, fuel filters, solenoid cut off valves and combustible gas detection systems as appropriate.” So, using the car or truck of your choice, and entrusting it into the hands of alternative fuel specialists, you drive away in the vehicle of the future.
Moreover, these folks have taken the time to compile an impressive index to online alternative fuel information including industry organizations and partners, publications, and alternative and clean energy events. If you really take the time to read, you’ll also discover they are an independent representative for Wavecrest Laboratories electric bicycles and are a Southwest Windpower dealership.
I like it. Multiple alternative energy options in one place covering varied aspects of real life. Let’s face it, this is the way alternative energy shops need to evolve, taking a lead in showing us how many different ways “green” and efficient options can be incorporated into our lives and making those things happen.
(Oh, and spiffy Intergalactic Hydrogen T-shirts are available as well in 100% organic cotton and ranging from S to XXXL.)
