Forbes on Car Gadgetry - February 28th, 2008

Much to drool over in the Forbes article “The Most Useful New Gadgets for Your Car.” The list includes:

Alpine eX-10 iPod and Bluetooth Adapter - $200

Let’s drivers play their iPod through the car speakers without those pesky radio transmitters or clumsy tape adapters, which means much better sound quality.

Azentek Atlas CPC-12 - $2,700

A personal computer for the dash with a 120g hard drive.

Directed Electronics viper Responder LE - $479

Combines a remote starter with an alarm system.

Escort 9500ci - $2,000

This is not your Daddy’s radar detector. This baby has a built-in nav system to warn drivers about speed traps coming up and to track locations where the detector has been touched off in the past even when it doesn’t sense the presence of police radar at the moment.

Navigon 7100 - $500

Voiced directions and removable GPS units aren’t innovations, but this is one of the first units to include both features.

Scosche Blue Fusion - Price N/A

Both this unit and the Ford Sync system ($395), that takes up spot 10 on the list, are systems designed to help drivers operate their phones and audio systems via voice.
