A Couple of Tidbits on Design, and a Follow Up
My dentist drives a 1930s vintage Ford replica that he built from a kit. He’s not at all upset that the thing isn’t an original and will describe in loving detail his experience of building his car, the materials that went into it, and how it performs. If you were one of those fans in the Eighties who would have given just about anything to have driven KITT from Knight Rider, despair not. There’s a kit. Pop on over to Popular Mechanics for photos and the specs.
And while still on the style vein, don’t miss, “Tragic by Design: Greatest Car Styling Blunders” from the NY Times blog, Wheels. I’m sorry to see they cite the Ford Pinto in the mix since that was my first car and I have fond memories of its get up and go. As to the other’s? Well, the list is illustrated and from the photos? Hard to argue against any of their selections.
Follow-up: A couple of days ago I mentioned the sQuba, a car that will purportedly drive underwater. Here’s AutoblogGreen’s take on the subject, in particular the fact that the thing is all-electric — something I totally missed. The post also cites the fact that there is an oxygen supply in the cab and gives 10 meters as the depth factor for the vehicle.
