Hot Wheels 40th Anniversary - December 13th, 2007

With an eye still firmly on gift giving as we are now a mere 12 days from the Big Holiday (11 if you exchange gifts on Big Holiday Eve) let’s talk Hot Wheels. Yep, every car junkie’s first tiny car turns 40 this year. Was it really 1967 when me and my next door neighbor Mark dug up his parents’ gravel driveway to build ramps and routes for our Hot Wheels? Alas, it truly was and I still have a weakness in my heart for those tiny, lovely vehicles.

Hot Wheels has produced a 40th anniversary set decked out with 40 examples of their cars over four decades. Good for collectors and good for kids. You might want to shop around for the best price. Amazon has the set (non-affiliate link) for $134 pre-shipping costs but it’s possible, if you can face it, that places like Walmart and Target will do better by your pocketbook.

I tried to find the exact set on the HotWheel site, (and I’m still recovering from the music that suddenly blasted out of my laptop speakers) but was a little overwhelmed by the, er, enthusiastic design. Enter at your own risk. ;)
