Reducing Gasoline Consumption, Who Doesn’t Want to Do That? - October 30th, 2007

This morning at what constitutes the crack of dawn for me, I found myself at the dealership getting the oil changed and the Odyssey checked out before a short weekend trip. When the maintenance “adviser” peered into the cockpit and read the odometer she said with considerable surprise, “Don’t have many miles on her do you?” It’s a 2004 and we just hit 17,100. Yes, as a full-time caregiver and a work-at-home writer, I’ve become a pretty low mileage person.

That doesn’t mean, however, that my attention meter doesn’t crank up when I see a good article about reducing gasoline consumption. On October 21, dailyfueleconomytip.com ran an excellent pience entitled, “The Top 10 Ways to Reduce Your Gasoline Consumption.” Of course number one on the list is, “Don’t drive if you don’t have to,” which is the wisdom lowering our fuel bills, but 2 through 9 are more action-effective points like minimizing the amount of time the car idles and coasting on long drives were possible. Good stuff and highly recommended.
