Mitsubishi i MIEV Incorporates Innovative Tech Combos - September 8th, 2007

Mitsubishi has busted out a really interesting all-electric, the i MIEV Sport. Anything zero-emissions is going to catch my eye, but this baby has a solar roof and two wind turbines tucked up in the front grill in addition to the now fairly “standard” regenerative braking.
Apparently a solar roof will add about 20 miles to the car’s range per day. No word on the boost picked up from the wind turbines, but I like the way their designers are thinking. I, alas, live in an oil state and have been thwarted in my own personal efforts to offset energy costs with solar and wind technology. My guess would be that the effectiveness of the add-ons to the i MIEV depend entirely on where and how the car is driven.
The i MIEV has two electric motors, LED lighting, glass in the windows that absorbs heat, and the plastic inside is even plant-based. Click here for the article on Treehugger and here for a full technical breakdown on Babez.de. She’s a funky looking little darling, but Mitsubishi is headed in the right direction with this innovative combination of ideas.
