Nokia 500 Auto Navigation Debuts in Europe - September 2nd, 2007

Nokia has busted out an interesting new unit in Europe, the Nokia 500 Auto Navigation. Of course it’s a GPS device, but in a nice little twist, drivers also get a Bluetooth connection to make handsfree calls.

The box has a color screen (4.3 inches) and includes Digital Signal Processing to up the sound quality. The system comes pre-installed with regional maps (Nokia Maps navigation software) and the now “normal” options for either voice or visual directions, points of interest, and traffic information.

Other nice little added features include a built-in music and video player plus photo viewer and wireless integration with the car’s FM radio receiver. Right now the Nokia 500 Auto Navigation is destined for the European market only at a price of about 300 Euros, but there’s a good chance it will come to the U.S., hopefully in the not too distant future. This one would be a nice add-on box for drivers who didn’t pop for all the techno stuff when they bought their new ride.
