A Car to Make James Bond Go Green?

We do love to look at the concepts, but will an electric car like the Lightning GT ever really roar past you on the highway? It looks like something James Bond would drive and will reputedly produce 700bhp. Power will be derived from a combination of a “high performance electric motive power with an advanced regenerative energy system that recharges the car’s batteries under braking by capturing lost friction energy.” Sounds great, doesn’t it?

Well, there’s more. The designers are claiming the GT could make the zero to sixty jump in under four seconds and motor along for 250 miles on a ten minute juice up. (Oh, say it’s so, say it’s so!) The company is taking deposits for deliveries in 2008 but unless you live in Merrye Olde England the shipping will break you.

Still, there’s a lot about this story to bring hope to the emerging hybrid/electric genre. The Prius is a great little car, but sexy it’s not. An all electric sports car — a real sports car — would let you drive earth-friendly and keep your 007 vibe working.
